Islay is a mysterious and beautiful place. It’s so full of places to explore that it could take an entire lifetime to see it all. I’ve been three times, and every visit only makes my list of places to see even longer. I’m hoping to go back this year, so maybe I’ll finally make it to the Bholsa Caves. For now, I’ll have to make do with visiting in liquid form.
Bholsa is one of the bottles in the Ardnahoe core range, and it’s matured mostly in Oloroso sherry casks.
Aroma: Smoked kippers; sweet, saline and softly smoky. Gentle TCP and smoky bacon crisps.

The middle is a fruity sweetness, with a dark chocolate or fruity coffee note.
The final notes are darkly sweet, with charcoal, crispy bacon and maple syrup.
Real Dram Factor: This whisky is shockingly good – 8.1
