Mysteries are fun. I have always enjoyed solving puzzles, completing crosswords and have got quite in to those locked in a room games with friends. So when I heard that Thompson Brothers had created a series of whiskies packaged in mystery bottles, I was excited. I missed Series No.2 because I was too slow off the purchasing mark, so when I saw Series No.3 for sale I tried to get involved, but I couldn’t find a bottle anywhere. Luckily, I happened to visit the best whisky shop in Bristol – Spirited on North Street – for a tasting and they still had one in stock! I took it home and vowed to drink it blind with friends before looking into it.
Aroma: Acidic raspberries, sweet meringue, and vanilla double cream.

Musty notes like old books, toffee chews and oak.
Real Dram Factor: This is an elegant whisky. It is not pushy or brash, but it contains hidden depths that given time reveal itself.
You will like this if: you sometimes imagine smoking a pipe in a corduroy jacket.
