Generosity is such an important quality. It comes in many forms: generosity of hospitality, generosity of spirit, and even generosity of honesty. You must have these sorts of people in your life. Chris, who runs The Dram Team, is one of these people. I feel lucky to know him and am always buoyed by time in his company.
Which brings me to a whisky. Taken from a Dram Team whisky box and hidden at the back of a cupboard for too long. Now is its time.
Aroma: Strawberries, cream and summer days in fields of barley. There is something fruity, honeyed and creamy about the nose of this whisky.
Taste: Initially slight, with a delicate floral honey sweetness. There is fruit, but more like stewed orchard fruits, encased in buttery crumble, served with single cream.
In the middle, it becomes warming with a light, gingery spice. It is woody, but generous. Not tight or astringent, just warm and wide.
The end notes are green and herbal, with a note of fresh cut herbs hand-picked and washed, ready for use.
Real Dram Factor: This is a generous whisky, gentle but moreish. I enjoyed my time in its company, and I was left wanting more.
You will like this if: you enjoy sitting on the sofa under a warm blanket, typing warm words about lovely things.
ABV: 48%
Price: £35-40 (but I fear that you might not find it now – too long has this dram lingered in the cupboard.)
